Red oak (Quercus rubra) is the most prevalent species used in wood flooring in North America. This wood is characterized by a distinctive, textured grain and clearly visible growth rings. Tones range from pinkish beige to reddish brown. Red oak changes color moderately over time, becoming slightly amber tinged. This wood has a hardness rating of 1 290 in the Janka test.
